Agartala, Oct 29 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has urged the ultras to find out a lasting solution to the problem of militancy and promised that his government would extend all possible help to bring permanent peace in the state.

Speaking at a rally, organised by Tripura Upajati Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP), a frontal organisation of the ruling CPI (M), yesterday, he said militancy had been affecting the overall development of the state.

'' Militant activities are causing harm to the interests of the indigenous tribe in the name of freedom struggle,'' Mr Sarkar said.

He further said more then 400 militants had surrendered during the last one and half years. A sizeable number of surrendered militants had been sheltered in rehabilitation camps and rest will be accommodated shortly, he added.

The Left Front Government had been making all efforts to improve socio-economic condition of the tribal people by taking various steps, adding the Leftist forces were trying hard to safeguard the tribal people.

He further flayed the then princely rulers for doing nothing for the welfare of the tribal people.

Meanwhile, two hardcore All Tripura Tigers Force (ATTF) militants had been apprehended by police yesterday from Jirania area here.
