Sydney, Oct 29 (UNI) One of Don Bradman's 'Greats of 48' Sam Loxton has warned that Australia may end up losing it's top spot in cricket if the World Champions did not bring in more youngsters in the side as the older members of the squad were only playing for money.

''Never again will we see the likes of 19-year-olds like Neil Harvey and Dougie Walters scoring Ashes centuries on debut. It's such a shame,'' Loxton told the 'Herald Sun'.

''It seems to me that many of the older ones are playing for the wrong reasons -- the money and what's in it for them,'' he added. in a scathing criticism of the selection process in the country.

Quoting Sir Don himself, Loxton said the Australians need to look beyond the senior members in the side as they were all past their prime. Loxton called on the senior players to make way for youngsters in the team.

''As the greatest of them all Don Bradman used to say, the current players are just the front window of the game. There are thousands in the background who have provided the opportunities,'' he explained.

''It's about time some of them realised that they do have a use-by date and move on,'' he added.

Calling for the Test selection of young pacer Mitchell Johnson, Loxton said the bowler's confidence needs to be boosted by bringing him into the Test fold.

''You need to pick the kids when they're hot,'' he added.
