PMK accuses DMK of betrayal in civic polls
Chennai, Oct 28, (UNI) Fissures came to the fore in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) with Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) accusing DMK of betraying the party in the local body elections.
In a strongly worded statement here tonight, PMK Founder Leader S Ramadoss alleged that the DMK candidates usurped nearly 40 posts allotted to PMK in the various local body elections.
Expressing surprise on how the DMK candidates could file nomination for the post allotted to PMK, he alleged ''this cannot have been possible without the blessings of DMK Ministers and District Secretary''.
Dr Ramadoss also expressed his anguish, how this kind of betrayal could take place in a party like DMK which claimed to be the most disciplined and organised.
He said only two days ago the DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had warned party men acting against the directives of High Command and working against the victory prospects of his allies.
Mr Karunanidhi had also said if the party men would win election by deceiving the allies such kind of victories would not last long and happiness would be shortlived, Dr Ramadoss said adding ''the DMK owed a reply as how the post would remain with DMK men''.
