Bellary, Karnataka, Oct 26 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today called upon historians to evolve the truth of history while documenting their researches.

Inaugurating the three-day 18th history congress, organised by the Kannada University at Bhuvana Vijaya in Hampi, he said ''only when the truth emerges in the research based on the facts of the past, the chaos and confusion over the past history, which has emerged with false and incorrect presentation of incidents, can be removed.'' The Minister stressed that folklore should also be a part of history to present a true picture of the rich tradition and culture of the land.

Presiding over the convention, senior history research scholar A K Shastri said lessons should be learnt from history to take the era of Manukula to the future generations. The aim of history should be to take the society from the uncivilised to civilised world by building a well-organised culture. Historians should draw the attention of children right from a tender age about legislations, temples, mosques, churches, historical incidents and administrative values.

Earlier, Mr Prakash laid the foundation stone for the construction of blocks for history research division in the varsity campus. He also flagged off the Hampi Utsav campaign vehicles.
