Mysore, Oct 2 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said the government will abide by the High Court order on the proposed Shobha Yatra at the controversial Bababudangiri Datta Peetha in Chikmagalur district.

Speaking to newspersons just before inaugurating the Jamboo Savari the concluding event of Mysore Dasara Festivities here, he said the issue of Shobha Yatra and any possible unlawful events or disturbance that may arise out of it, would amount to violation of law.

The government wanted a peaceful solution on this issue and any one who created disturbance in the area would be dealt with seriously. The government had taken elaborate measures for maintenance of peace during the Datta Mela programmes that began at Bababudangiri hills today.

The cave shrine in the picturesque hill station has been a bone of contention and a source of communal tension for several years now. Reportedly, the shrine houses a temple as well as some tombs of Muslim saints. Peple of both communities perform prayers in the cave shrine. By taking out Shobha Yatra, Hindu organisations wanted the cave to be 'freed' and Dattatreya Temple be rebuilt.
