Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President and former Union Minister Chandrasekhara Rao is believed to have sought an appointment with President A P J Abdul Kalam on September 23, to convey his party's decision to withdraw support from the UPA government.

The TRS has five members in the Lok Sabha.

Chandrasekhara Rao, who had resigned from the Union Cabinet and from Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat, had clearly stated that he would not withdraw his resignation unless Congress gave a clear assurance that a separate Telangana state would be created by September 23, when he was scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

The Speaker asked Mr Rao to meet him as he wanted to check with him the resignation letter.

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh also urged the TRS supremo not to insist on his resignation and assured that Congress was still trying to achieve consensus on the separate statehood of Telangana.
