New Delhi, Sep 20: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today expressed concern over the proposed sale of majority stake of UNI to a media house and emphasised that the neutral character of the premier news agency must be maintained at all costs.

Talking to a delegation of UNI Employees, he fully endorsed that "UNI Khatre Main Hai," (UNI is in danger)" and recalled how the agency came into existence to provide neutral and impartial news coverage.

Mr Vajpayee said he would take up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other government leaders before the UNI Annual General Meeting on September 26 when the proposed deal is likely to be ratified.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to the former Prime Minister opposing the deal.
