Sensex recovers after touching 10,797 pts

Mumbai, July 13: The BSE sensitive index (Sensex) recovered from the lower level after the metals, bankex and smallcap sectors gained on the index.

The sensex swung 125 points touching a high of 10922.61 points and a low of 10797.49 in the intra noon trading today.

Current volatility can be attributed to all time high crude oil price which reached USD 75 per barrel. The surge in the oil price has had a direct impact on the auto and oil and gas scrips.

Most of the BSE sectoral indices were trading in the red.

Major gainers on the BSE index were Grasim Industries up by 2.55 per cent, HLL up by 1.81 per cent, ICICI Bank up by 1.32 per cent, and Hindalco up by 0.67 per cent.

The losers on the index were Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Wipro, L&T, Hero Honda, TCS, Reliance Industries, HDFC, Tata Motors, and BHEL all down between 1.73 to 3.72. Infosys was down by more than 50 per cent in the current trading.
