K'taka Govt to set up district level tourism authorities

Bangalore, July 6 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has proposed to set up district level tourism authorities to give a boost to the sector in the State, Tourism Minister B Sriramulu informed the Legislative Council today.

Replying to a query raised by Mr Saleem Ahamed (Congress), he said these authorities would be set up to expedite development works, including laying of roads, construction of hotels and airports.

The Government had identified 256 places of tourist interest in the State. Of them, 126 places have been provided with tourism related infrastructure facilities, the Minister said.
