Election commission serves deadline to Chief Minister
Kohima, Jun 26 (UNI) The Election Commission(EC) today directed Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to immediately reply to the petition filed by Leader of Opposition I Imkong and 14 legislators for allegedly holding the Office of Profit.
The EC has issued a deadline asking the Chief Minister to file a written statement latest by June 30, a copy of which should be served to the petitioner. However, the Commission has rejected Mr Rio's request for an extension of six weeks to file the reply as required.
The opposition Congress in the state had filed a complaint before the EC that Mr Rio was holding the profitable posts of the Chairman of Nagaland Bamboo Mission and the State Sports Council.
