Houses donated to tsunami victims
Kollam, June 19 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan handed over the keys of 300 houses built for the tsunami victims by the Quilon Social Service Society at Azheekal in the district today.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government was expecting more such assistance from the people and social organisations and the government would provide all help to the affected people.
The houses were built at a total cost of Rs five crore by the Society with assistance from Karithas India and the US-based Catholic Relief Service.
State Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran launched an insurance scheme for the 300 householders. Kollam Bishop Stanely presided.
