BRATISLAVA, June 18 (Reuters) Slovak opposition leader Robert Fico said yesterday he was prepared to try and form a government after his leftist party won parliamentary elections but fell well short of a majority.
''This result means that the government programme will be oriented to the left. It will be a solidarity programme that will react to the great divide between the richer and poorer regions of the country,'' he said at his Smer party headquarters.
He declined to answer questions on who his possible coalition partners could be.
