Nephew of Dy C M survives militant bid in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Mar 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh's nephew Javid Baigh today survived a bid on his life after militants hurled a hand grenade towards his vehicle in north Kashmir this afternoon.

Official sources said Mr Javid was going to Seer Jagir to address an election rally when militants hurled a hand grenade towards his vehicle at Wazir Mohre near Wagoora.

The grenade missed the intended target and exploded without causing any damage.

However, another report said Javid was slightly injured in the blast.

Javid is possible candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Sangrama assembly constituency, by-election of which will be held in April 24.

The notification for the elections was issued today.
