New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) Kingfisher Airlines has taken delivery of its first ATR 72-500 aircraft.
This aircraft is the first to be delivered following the signature of a contract for 20 new ATR 72-500s unveiled in November 2005. The initial order was subsequently increased in February 2006 when Kingfisher exercised options for 15 additional ATR 72-500.
So far, the airlines has ordered 35 new ATR 72-500 and has 20 more options. The delivery ceremony took place in Toulouse with Mr Vijay Mallya, chairman and managing director of Kingfisher Airlines, and Mr Filippo Bagnato, chief executive officer of Avions de Transport Regional (ATR).
''These aircraft will allow us to develop our network and introduce new routes not previously served,'' said Mr Mallya.
