Amritsar, Mar 31 (UNI) Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Enforcement (DRI) seized 10 kg heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market in the city here last night, DRI sources today said.
The consignment was seized from a car outside the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) campus on GT road.The lone occupant of the car identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Naushera Dhalla, a border village was taken into custody and later booked under the NDPS act.
Sukhwinder was assigned the task of taking the consignment to New Delhi.The drug was believed to have been smuggled from Pakistan.
Further investigations are on in the case.
This is the second major seizure of heroin in the last couple of days in the district. A consignment of 19 kgs heroin was seized from the border village of Kakkar on March 28 and one person was arrested in this case.
