Special emphasis on rural electrification

Ranchi, Mar 16 (UNI) Apart from due emphasis on streamlining distribution and transmission systems of power, Jharkhand government will also take measures for electrification of villages during the year 2006-07, an official report said.

To remove the anomalies, the government has constituted four companies -- State Electricity Development Corporation (holding company), State Electricty Generating Company, Electricity Transmission Corporation and Electricity Distribution Corporation by bifurcating the the State Electricity Board, the report said.

It said a total of 9822 villages had already been provided electricity and under the Rajiv Gandhi Village Electrification Programme all the villages will have electricity by 2009.

Till now detailed scheme report have been completed for ten out of 22 districts. The report for the remaining districts would be completed by June this year, it added.
