Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) opened with a huge gain of 58 points at 10,859 points over its last close of 10,801 points.
The 30-share Sensex was trading with a gain of 63 points at 10,865 points at1058 hrs.
Sensex moved in a narrow range touching a high of 10,889 and a low of 10,854 in the first hour of trade.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty Index opened flat at 3,197 as compared to the last close of 3,195 points. The 50-share Nifty index traded with a gain of 18 points at 1058 hrs.
Maximum gains were seen in the BSE sectoral indices of Metal, Oil and Gas and Automobile.
All the sectoral indices of the BSE were in the green but for the FMCG index, which traded down by 0.4 per cent, as index heavy weights Hindustan Lever and ITC were trailing.
Reliance Industries was trading at an all time high of Rs 756 with a gain of 1.95 per cent.
The top gainers on the 30-share Sensex at 1045 hrs were Tata Motors, HDFC, Satyam Computers, Gujarat Ambuja Cements, Reliance, HDFC Bank, TCS, SBI, Tata Steel and Larsen&Toubro.
The top losers were Ranbaxy, Wipro, HLL, ITC, Infosys, ONGC, and BHEL.
Power equipment manufacturer Indo-Tech Transformers made its debut on the stock markets today listing at Rs 135 per share on the NSE as against the issue price of Rs 130 for Rs 10 share. The scrip touched a high of Rs 216 per share in the first hour of trade.
